The Dr. Henry Withers, M.D. and Frances Withers Family and Friends Collection, no. 4 - Parades and Trail Rides

Duration: 0:06:30

Year Published: 1965

Format: 8mm

Sound: silent

Description: The majority of this home movie features two different parades. The first takes place in Giddings, Texas, in 1958 and contains, amongst other things, a marching band, fire trucks, an airplane, and a number of floats representing local clubs and businesses. Also captured are scenes of the family taking practice rides in a round pen in advance of the 1965 or 1966 Houston Fat Stock Show (now known as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo) parade. Members of the family appear to have taken part in the parade, as the day begins with a campfire, captures scenes of trail riders in downtown Houston, and ends with a very sore young boy.
