Description: The issues confronting the people of South Africa are presented from the perspective of Rev. C. F. Beyers Naude, an Afrikaner churchman and anti-apartheid activist for three decades. This film chronicles the spiritual and political journey of Naude, now 72, from trusted pastor to the Afrikaner elite to staunch supporter of the freedom movement. A former member of the Broederbond, the Afrikaner secret society that devised the apartheid system, Naude experienced a reversal of faith when he witnessed the suffering of the black townships, particularly the Sharpeville massacre. Filmed on location throughout South Africa, Europe and the U.S., the documentary includes interviews with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Allan Boesak and Rev. Frank Chikane.
