Description: Transcription: Interviewer How much does an oil company make 0:02 on a gallon of gasoline? 0:04 - 30 cents, 30 cents. 0:05 - Oh, it's gotta be at least 50 cents. 0:08 - A lot, you can bet on that. 0:11 - 10 cents. 0:14 - We asked people how much they thought an oil company makes 0:15 on a gallon of gasoline. 0:18 And very few of them even came close, 0:20 but that's not surprising. 0:22 Many people do think oil companies 0:24 make a lot more than they do. 0:26 Actually in the year that ended last June, 0:28 Texaco made only an average of about 1 1/4 cents 0:31 per gallon for all petroleum and products sold. 0:34 Yes only 1 1/4 cents per gallon. 0:37 What do you think of that? 0:41 - I never woulda guessed that low. 0:43 - Many people do think we make a lot more, 0:45 20, 25 or even 30 cents a gallon, 0:47 but it's only 1 1/4 cents. 0:50 And most of that has to go back 0:53 into getting you the oil and gasoline you need. 0:54 At Texaco, we're working to keep your trust. 0:57
