For all of their newfound adult thinking skills, they still retain the belief that the world orbits around them. Pretty much the same attitude they had as infants. In a way, babies believe that other people exist to feed and care for them. Teenagers believe that other people exist to be an audience for them. And that's why it's important for every little hair to be in just the right place because the audience is watching.
