CBPF.; The story is from the "old Panji-Malat cycle: the fate of the King of Lasam, his unholy love for the Princess Langkersari and the evil omens that visit him before his death." The style of the dance is derived and refined from 14th century Gambuh dance dramas and from the Sanghyang (trance dance).
