Description: Photographed at Miami Beach, Florida. Shows how the Army is training men to swim so that they may live. Soldiers learn to hold their breath under water, then to float face down and on their backs. They learn how to "dog paddle," the breast stroke, side stroke, the scissors stroke, to hit the water without breaking a leg, an arm or a neck. They learn to swim fully dressed, to transport wounded men, to swim under water to apply artificial respiration and to swim through burning oil without singeing an eyelash.
