Surface tension

Description: Reviews the nature and shows some applications of surface tension: comparison of solids, gases and liquids with reference to size and shape; demonstration of how the surface of water behaves like an elastic skin; effect of modifying the surface by addition of camphor, ether and soap; surface tension seen in films and bubbles; capillary action; applications including blotting paper, lamp wick, candle, paint brush and killing of mosquito larvae.
