While waiting for a call from her fiance, who later arrives with his friend George, Alice's uncle presents her with a deed to a home as a wedding gift, but she is disappointed with the offer since the house is a dingy, uncomfortable one. George suggests that they accept the uncle's offer. He explains the bad conditions of damp walls, stiffness and poor insulation and states that the first step to overcome these conditions is to insulate the rock wool.
