Complete Record: Donald learns the value of saving, savings bonds and the war effort. Donald is cast as a typical American worker who has just collected his paycheck and is deciding whether to spend it on fun or for the war effort. However, this is wartime, so it is no time for Donald to spend money on anything that he absolutely does not need. Apparently in 1943, there wasn't a withholding on income tax. Donald knows that he should put money aside to pay the tax bill when it comes due, but the temptation to spend frivolously is great, and the money starts to burn a hole in his pocket (literally). The point is that Donald (along with his fellow Americans) had best be thrifty and 'save for victory.' It's 'Taxes to bury the Axis--taxes to sink the Axis!' The narrator tells why the money is needed. Depicted are steel factories turning out guns, flying bombers and underwater submarines with Nazi emblems exploding. In the final scene, clouds turn into the American flag
