Between Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Sao Paulo lies the center of developed wealth and population of the largest country on the continent. Brazil is now well into a period of unprecedented economic growth. However, this surge has been achieved at the expense of some personal and institutional liberties, while parts of the country show little change since colonial times, others reflect the lifestyle of the most advanced of industrial societies.
