Directly converted from the 16mm print in our archive, there is beautiful and never before seen footage in this clip from the 1920s to the 1930s depicting daily life such as fishing, child care, cooking, transportation etc. in Indigenous communities. Set in Moricetown, BC (British Columbia), this story follows the life of Rose Bazil (1920-2015), a residential school survivor, as she tells her touching story of the misogyny she faced in her attempt to set foot on the reserve she grew up on.
