Solar Energy: To Capture The Power Of Sun And Tide

Duration: 21

Year Published: 1975

Creator: Aci Productions

Format: 16mm

Description: Explains that the oldest sources of energy (sun and moon) may offer the most promising solutions to the energy crisis, and serve as alternatives to nuclear power. Tidal power, a never-ending by-product of the moon's gravitational pull, is already being used on the coast of Brittany in a station, which is shown in operation. Shows solar energy being gathered for experimental purposes by a sun furnace in the Pyrenees. On a smaller, practical scale, there is an interview with a man who built and lives in a house which uses rain water and a solar still to heat it.
