Description: This film captures a football game between the Southern Methodist University Mustangs and the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns. (Texas players are wearing burnt orange jerseys.) The Southwest Conference match-up was played on November 2, 1968 at Texas Memorial Stadium (now known as Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium) in Austin. Texas continued their successful wishbone offense, clenching a 38-7 victory. The Longhorns finished the season with a 9-1-1 record, winning the Southwest Conference and defeating the University of Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl Classic on January 1, 1969. Led by Head Coach Darrell K Royal and quarterback James Street, the team was considered to be at the height of its prime and was crowned national champions by various polls.
