SIMPLE PLANTS—THE ALGAE

Shows the diversity of these simple plants that range in size from single cells to gigantic kelps. Stresses the importance of algae in terms of their being the basic food supply of nearly all aquatic animals, and in that they generate a large proportion of the oxygen in the atmosphere. Shows some of the practical aspects of the use of algae for food, cosmetics, and suggests possible use of algae in space exploration.
