Description: A part of the Bob Frye Collection, this film reel includes three short amateur films filmed in Texas in the 1970s. The films use experimental techniques and are a mix of stop motion and live action story telling. The first, “Obelisk Desire,” is a stop motion animation using clay to tell the story of a statue’s formation. The second, “Oh Great Russia,” is a depiction of a day in life of a Soviet peasant farmer family. This film is the only one of the three to have a soundtrack - a recording of a Russian song. The third is “Future,” a science fiction story following a time traveler to the year 18081.
