Safe loads

Description: This 1977 film demonstrates the importance of carrying a load safely on a truck. It details the necessary preparation for a drive, including the kind of load being carried, the stacking, placement and securing of the load. It includes a cameo appearance by American pro golfer Johnny Miller at the beginning, and a narrator speaking directly to the camera. Acknowledging that workers often find instructional videos condescending, the narrator speaks in a casual and familiar tone to appeal to the audience. He discusses the danger of petroleum and corrosive acids carried in tankers and the importance of stacking and securing a load correctly. The film ends with a dramatic re-enactment of experienced, yet careless, workers who secure a dangerous load onto a truck, which eventually explodes.
