River That Came Back

Year Published: 1969

Complete Record: This film looks at the Au Sable River, which was nearly ruined by loggers in the early 1900s. An electrical company reforested the region, and conservationists brought trout back to the river. Due to the improved wilderness and recreation of the area, the river is once again in danger because the crowds of visitors are negatively impacting the river and surrounding forest. The film shows how several programs are trying to improve the river and ensure its future. Includes many shots of anglers and kayakers / boaters, and ends with an aerial shot of the river and surrounding forest.
