Description: The Damodar Valley Project. The Damodar River in Dihar is known as the River of Sorrow; during the monsoon its floods cause death and destruction on a gigantic scale. The Damodar Valley Project is combating this with a series of dams on the river and its tributaries, and a barrage across the confluence of the Damodar and the Barakar Rivers.
