[Music] In the final analysis, it is the training, discipline, and professional manner in which the individual soldier goes about his job that determines the effectiveness of riot control. Both civilians and the military have discovered that unless riot control operations are properly executed, the mob can run all over you. For a small unit to be able to disperse a mob, restore law and order, protect lives and property, and if possible, apprehend the leaders of the mob, it requires the best in training, planning, and execution. In these demonstrations, we will review many of the principles of riot control. To begin, the mere appearance of specially trained, sharplooking soldiers working smoothly together as a team can have a definitely sobering effect on a mob.
