Complete Record: Introduced formally only a few years ago, racquetball is today one of the country’s fastest-growing sports. Popular with women and men alike, it affords the player a better physical workout than tennis or jogging. Moreover, it is easy to learn. Racquetball can be played on an outdoor three-walled handball court or indoors on a completely enclosed court. In this film, a professional player and teacher, Mark Morrow, explains the rules of the game. Mark provides step-by-step instructions in the basic skills, demonstrating the fundamental serves and returns and describing how each functions strategically. Viewers learn how to position themselves and the ball for such racquetball strokes as the kill, skip ball, Z-ball, pinch shot, and fly kill. They see a variety of serves and learn what each type of serve should accomplish. Mark Morrow along with Joy Koppel who is also an outstanding teacher and a champion player are seen in competition to illustrate each stroke. Since racquetball is a very fast-moving game played in a tightly limited space, safety is an important concern. The film emphasizes eye protection and the importance of honoring the “hinders” rule.
