Description: Filmed in the late 1960s or early 1970s, these short promos for San Antonio’s WOAI-TV 4 News feature reporter and ventriloquist Paul Schaefer conducting interviews with puppets. Schaefer first asks Pete, a ventriloquist dummy and regular guest on the program, which news network he watches. In a “woman-on-the-street” interview with a Senor Wences-style hand puppet, Schaefer then describes all that TV 4 News has to offer. Next, a baby promises to watch TV 4 News when he grows up. The “woman-on-the-street” returns for a series of segments in which she names her favorite thing about TV 4 News, mentioning each time a member of the news team: Chris Marrou, Mike Henry, Martha Buchanan, Gene Lively, and George Wood.
