The film deals with four of the principle problems confronting the Middle East: minority aspirations versus Arab unity, agriculture and backwardness, industry and westernization, and education and the future. Depicts the history and culture of the Middle East from antiquity to the present. The basic forces molding its fragile destiny are explained. Considers the five dominant ethnic minority groups in the area; Kurds, Armenians, Lebanese Maronites, Israelis, and Arab refugees. The Arab-Israeli conflict is placed in perspectives within the ultimate needs and goals of the area.
