Preserving the Wasa

Description: An account of the location and salvaging of the Swedish warship Wasa which sank on its maiden voyage in Stockholm harbour in 1628. Explains the use of the petroleum product Polythlene glycol in the preservation of the wood of the Wasa. It diffuses through the wood cells - forcing out the water and sets hard.
