Description: Shows that cats deprived of visual projection areas display no impairment of pupillary reflexes, blinking, righting reactions or optic movements. The cats, however, lose visual placing reactions and cannot descend from a slightly elevated surface or avoid obstructions. They also lose the ability to discriminate brightness under conditions of light adaptation but, retain the ability to discriminate brightness under conditions of low illumination.
