Description: Follows familiar materials such as coal and logs through the processes involved in the manufacture of plastic items. Shows powdered coal being converted into tableware and telephone housings; old rags are mixed with synthetic resin, pressed under heat and turned into clear plastic; glass thread fabric is spun and woven from broken bottles; and fish plus sodium hydroxide became a thread material used in textiles.
