foreign [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] in Old Arizona in 1858 that's when the pipe spring got its name William Hamlin whose rifle had earned him renowned shadowhole through the bowl of a pie and they called him gunlock bills foreign [Music] [Music] telling of times long ago they remember the days of our youths and never hold good times and badass [Music] and the name [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] a Cowboy is nothing but it used to be but it's still just as hot and dry on the Lone Prairie the cool water of the spring is a mighty welcome thing still a Cowboys laughing what it used to be a Cowboys life ain't what it used to be [Music] he still knows a day's work means just another Plato's beef and beans but a Cowboy is laughing while it used to be [Music] you can't feel a Bronco bug from the back of a pickup truck Cowboys laughing what it used to be [Music] Cowboys laughing what it used to be when the grass was tall and green far as you could see the range ain't been the same since the barbed wire fences came and a Cowboy is laughing what it used to be he's still hurting that old cow but it ain't the same somehow and a Cowboys life ain't what it used to be [Music] foreign [Music] that old horse of mine you get a rope under sailing he don't pay more attention to it and you do take your hat off the scratching your head dude you just don't care but that's just a disposition so lots of them don't even know how to buckle they couldn't uh they could if they would but they just don't want to [Music] hey David had a time two ropes 100 oh yeah [Music] he works good it takes me a little while to get on to the Moon he will move for you that other thing [Music] well this morning we're gonna [Music] run the cows we have on the trail and this is the really hard job about the livestock business is wrestling these wiry Cavs [Music] it's hard work and we we're going to the herd we generally will assign one man to do the roping and we like a man that's careful and quiet in the herd so he doesn't get the cattle stirred up and we have a few [Music] cattle a different brand and the majority of the cattle have on them and we we've got to to get them with their mother so that we're sure that we got the right calf or the right cow so not too much of a problem with us because most of the Caps were the one brand and then we air mark the calves we cut a certain Mark in the ears of the calf and this is a means of identification when you're riding on the Range and you see an animal with this earmark well that's belong to so and so that belongs to us sometimes now in the spring of the year like we are here some of these cattle have long hair rough hair and it's hard to read a brand so the first thing you look for is an earmark [Music] we drag the cabs up and we tied them we generally tie three legs so they will lay there [Music] a little brand most of these cows would be branded on the left ribs they put a brand recall in a 7X on the ribs and this is an identifying brand any any animal with that brand on sure that that's our animal this is this is really a trademark or a Mark of ownership this brand is recorded with the state of Arizona which is according to state law [Music] that any person running range Livestock on the Range must have a brand recorded with the state for the reason not if there is ever an argument over ownership you can go back to this recording and improve ownership [Music] and then we will dehorn the Cavs for the reason that if we you get a bunch of cattle together and if they have horns they're always hooking each other and bruising each other and it's really a severe thing and and then another thing we will do is vaccinate the cows for black leg and also for shipping fever and pneumonia which takes care of any any shock of handling the calves at this time in a weekly Capital pretty well have forgotten all of it branding and dehorning that we're doing to them and they'll go right on growing there's a lot of pleasure in being your own boss and running a bunch of cattle and I can see these young men I don't blame them I'd stay in just as long as I could if I was young no matter how bad it was to run I'd still stay in the garbage if I possibly could I pulled it up tight against your horn I'll just turn around the other way just start dragging that's the way came on born right around [Music] good morning but I thought I wanted to be a wild cowboy and learn how to open the ride I thought I wanted to kill wild Indians and hang yourself by my side I thought I wanted eating a me draw and carry my pistols by twos I never once thought I'd get homesick and down to them Chuck Wagon Blues but now I want to go home to my daddy and I long to see my old Mall I want to tell my big sister that I ain't going to be no outlaw I want to trade these high heel boots off prepare old Brogan shoes because I'm willing to walk if I have to because I'm just down with them Chuck Wagon Blues
