Description: The purposes of this film are to show how the application of the scientific method has revealed the mechanism by which chlorophyll-containing plants transform light energy into food and to introduce several more advanced concepts about photosynthesis, such as the formation of intermediate compounds and the effect of different types of light. A brief explanation of photosynthesis is followed by a series of experiments which enable the student to discover for himself the evidence which led scientists to formulate the photosynthetic equation. Various laboratory techniques are demonstrated.
