Fumbling efforts to establish some meaningful communication between the full and active life of a family and the empty life of a senile grandmother in a nursing home are interrupted by flashbacks in the mind of the college age son, showing her as she was. He stays a moment longer than the others to tell her he loves her; she smiles.
