Description: Shows “The Palio”, a wild horse race representing Siena’s seventeen districts. Held in a mediaeval square, it was inaugurated in the 18th century by Violanta of Medici as a safety valve for local factions continuing to this day, and is dubbed as the world’s only political horse race.
