Description: Animation.; Title at head of reel: Opus 2, 3, 4.; Running time: 7:40.; Film begins with the modern title: WALTER RUTTMANN Opus 2, 3,4; then an introductory note in German appears. After this statement, there is a short abstract animation sequence by Ruttmann, and then Ruttmann's original title for Opus II announces the beginning of that work. Opus III and Opus IV also are preceded by Ruttman's original titles.; Ruttmann's titles date Opus III from 1924, and Opus IV from 1925.; Introductory note reads: "Mit den seinerzeit farbig hergestellten OPUS-Filmen kehrt Ruttmann zur filmischen Urforn zurück. Hierzu erklärte er selbst: 'Man soll sich dabei gar nichts denken.'" (With the original-color OPUS films, Ruttmann returns to the primal form of cinema. In this regard he explains, "They do not require thought."); All four Opus films were originally shown with a score by the Swedish composer Max Butting.
