One Word of Truth

Based on the words of the speech Alexander Solzhenitsyn was to have given at the awards ceremony for his Nobel prize in 1978., This film is based on Alexander Solzenitsyn's Nobel Prize lecture, a speech he could not deliver because of the author's inability to leave the Soviet Union. Prison-camp sequences shot in Swedish Lapland, works of art and historic newsreel footage dramatize many issues facing mankind: the differing scales of values in the world, the use of terrorism, violence and the lie, the relevance of art and literature and the role of the individual.
