Description: Discusses the U S Forest Service's proposal to harvest 97 percent of the Tongass National Forest in Alaska and send the bulk of the wood as pulp to the paper mills of Japan. Points out that this would result in the destruction of bear, deer, salmon, eagle and falcon habitats and asks that one-fortieth of this acreage be set aside as a wilderness area and home for the creatures who will be displaced by the harvest.
