Relates China's technological and artistic achievements and its contributions to world civilization from primitive times to the Yuan dynasty (13th century). Uses photographs of artifacts unearthed in China which were part of the exhibition that toured the U.S. in 1975 to tell the story of China's cultural heritage. Interrelates the cultural aspects with social history, showing such artifacts as bronze sculptures of the Shang dynasty, a jade burial suit, a clay chariot procession, the "flying" horse of the Han dynasty, and porcelain from the Sung and Yuan dynasties. Narrated by James Earl Jones.
