Complete Record: , This Appalachian folktale concerns a mountain preacher, Old Dry Frye, who chokes and dies as he greedily gulps down a piece of his favorite chicken at the table of a poor farmer and his family. An unlikely sequence of guilt and redemption is begun when the host disposes of the body near a local still. The bootlegger, thinking he somehow caused the death of the preacher, moves the body. A comedy of errors develops as each family in the community comes to feel they have caused the demise of Preacher Frye.
