Description: Created by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department as a law enforcement training tool, "Officer Survival" (1978) was directed by Richard Einfeld and released by MTI Teleproductions. It was apparently based in part on the Newhall Shootout incident of 1970 in which four officers lost their lives: James Pence, Roger Gore, Walt Frago and George Alleyn. The incident led to a completely revamped set of procedures to be followed during high-risk and felony stops, with emphasis at every step on officer safety.
