Description: A study of the village of Khalapur between 1953 and 1955, produced by a Cornell University India program, with a Ford Foundation grant for filming and research. Shows that the village of Khalapur, not a completely static community because it has always shared the vicissitudes of a larger region and civilization, nevertheless has many features which have changed little over the centuries. Explores the relationships between men and women, the hereditary occupations of castes, and forms of worship and ceremony.
