Description: This news segment for Houston’s KPRC-TV, broadcast on October 9, 1962, interviews Alley Theatre founder Nina Vance about the proposal for a new, permanent location for the Houston theater company. Vance was a drama teacher before she founded the Alley Theatre. On October 7, 1947, she sent out 214 postcards asking about starting a new theater in Houston. With more than 100 responses, the Alley Theatre opened on November 18, 1947. The theatre had several locations, including an abandoned fan factory, until its permanent location discussed in this interview was built in 1968, right in the heart of downtown Houston.
