New Zealand: The Land and the People

Surveys the topography, climate, natural resources, economic activities, political structures, and peoples of New Zealand. The similarities between New Zealand and the United States are pointed out with the indication that New Zealand is most like the Pacific Northwest in its climate and topography. Maps are used to locate New Zealand between the South Pacific and the Tasman Sea and to point out the effect of this location on the country's climate. Contrasts the two islands' climates, vegetation, and economics; and shows sheep stations, grasslands, agriculture, and hydroelectric power.
