As his son's first birthday nears, the filmmaker explores the economic and emotional costs of becoming a father in his thirties and of choosing to share childcare responsibilities with his wife who also has a career. He and his wife discuss the conflicts between them concerning child rearing. With his own father, the filmmaker reflects on differences in fathering between the two generations.
