Complete Record: Two teenage girls walk to class commiserating over how their mothers are trying to sabotage their lives. While in the classroom, one of the girls, our protagonist Victoria, gets caught putting a frog in her teachers desk. Later her friend dares her to smoke a cigarette, when she does she is caught again by the same teacher. The teacher tells her that she will be speaking to her mother. Victoria runs home and cries to her grandmother that her mother hates her. Mom comes home and Victoria prepares to spend the night at her friend Steffi’s house, but her plans are thwarted when she gets into a tiff with her younger sister which in turn starts a confrontation with their Mother. Mother tells her she needs to start growing up and being responsible. Victoria gets pissed off and runs out of the house and into the subway. While on the train she smacks her head on a pole and is rendered unconscious. When she comes to, its 1944! She gets off the train in a state of bewilderment . An oddly dressed girl her own age offers to walk her home. As they make their way home, things continue to look less and less familiar to Victoria. Victoria’s’ inner voice tells her something is seriously wrong. When they get to the corner where Victoria’s house is supposed to be, it’s not there! She tries phoning her friend Steffi, but the operator tells her there is no such number listed. She meets her new friend CC at the newsstand. Finally it dawns on her after looking at a paper that she has traveled back in time! CC offers to let Victoria stay at her house. When they walk through the door, Victoria’s own grandmother welcomes them in! CC is Victoria’s’ mother! The girls make milkshakes in the kitchen, CC spills the milk, her mother yells at her exactly the way her own mother does. They go to the local coffee shop. CC shoplifts an eraser from next to the register. The shop owner catches her and CC feigns being German and blind. They run out of the shop in hysterics over their successful swindle. Back at CC’s house they’re in her room. CC offers a cigarette, Victoria declines. They go to party at CC’s friends house. Victoria watches as CC gets hit on by a grease ball whose father is their science teacher. She tells Victoria that she’s planning on meeting him at midnight to get the answers to a science exam. Victoria’s’ inner voice tells her that her mother is going too far. Later at CC’s house they climb out her window to meet him. He waits for them in his convertible. They drive out to a remote area and the greasy boy makes a pass at Mom. She pushes him away but she still needs the answers to the test! He tells her its 10 dollars, she says she has only five. Victoria offers to loan CC three, but they’re still short by two, and CC decides to steal the rest from her mothers purse. Victoria doesn’t like it, but goes along for the ride. The boy goes with them. CC tries to climb up the side of the house into her mothers window but falls. Her mother hears everything and tells CC she has a lot of explaining to do. Back in CC’s room, Victoria tries to persuade her mother to confess. She recognizes herself echoing her own mothers words about being responsible and acting like a grown-up. As CC ponders Victoria’s words an air raid sounds and we are magically transported back to the subway car. In a daze Victoria goes home to her apartment, and remorsefully tells her mother she was wrong. They go for a conciliatory stroll in Central Park and mother warmly tells her daughter that she was young once too. What a tearjerker!!!
