Complete Record: 1.) Official Films Presents “Romantic Rhythms” Stan Kenton’s orchestra in “This Love of Mine” 1947 Opening shot of a passenger steamer on the water. Two women and a man in fancy clothes listen to a band play and look out on the water, enjoying the night. One woman and the man go to dance, leaving the third behind. Se dances with the man’s coat and fantasizes dancing with him as she sings. She ends up along but is later rejoined by the man, who kisses her hand. 2.) Lucille Bremer in ‘Penny Arcade’ A blonde woman with curled hair sits and sings in a striped hammock. She is then in an Arcade with a man and they play with various machines and nickelodeons, while singing to each other. 3.) Lina Romay in “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” A black haired girl and a young fellow sit on a beach setting stage, the girl wears a bathing suit and sings a song to the fellow. They get up and dance around while other couples watch and are entertained. They sit back down and she continues to sing while he admires her. 4.) “Music With Spice” George Porgie with Patty Lacey and Ray Hirsch A short, brown haired man drives a car and a brown, curly haired woman sings alone in a room. Cut to a blonde smoothing out her tight shirt, a woman in a night gown, and the silhouette of a woman showering. The women are al getting ready to see the man, who arrives. They run excitedly to meet him, singing and dancing with him in the parlor. A woman in a black dress slides down a banister and they swing dance in the parlor. The black maid is even dancing in the kitchen as she cooks. The whole group has a big dance party in the large house. 5.) “The Man That Comes Around” SOME SEXUAL CONTENT A man says goodbye to a blonde woman in a bathrobe at the fence to her yard she stops him and he pays her. Another man, dressed as a little boy plays on a fake horse and sings about how the man comes around when papa goes away, papa goes to work and mama gets to play, etc. The ice man arrives and looks happily towards the house. Cut to the woman showering, with a silhouette through the curtain of her nude body. The trash man shows up and preps some flowers for the woman and goes towards the door. A candy man comes by, gives the ‘boy’ a lollipop and goes to the house while the boy pets his horse. She puts on stalking, lifting her leg up in the air and exposing one breast slightly, she covers it up and looks off screen (towards the door). Cut to a vacuum salesman ringing doorbells and trying to get women to let him in to sell the machine. He is refused twice but a third woman appears as he accidentally vacuums off a cleaning lady’s skirt to show her slip and stockings. he runs away. The boy dances and sings outside the gate and his father comes home, looking angrily towards the group of visitors, who dance off screen in a line, each holding their tools of the trade (ice pick, vacuum, etc.) END 6.) “Oh, Johnny!” sung by Gertrude Niesen A curly, light haired woman wearing a black sequined dress on a stage in front of a curtain sings. A a group of men in various costumes tell her she sang it wrong as she goes off stage and she re-sings it in their midst. They tell her again that she did it wrong then she suggestively calls them up to her one by one, looking them over and singing in a sultry way and caressing some of their heads. They are swooned as she moans a bit and leaves, entering her dressing room and waving a feathery thing out the door, which they all grab at. 7.) “Singing the Classics With the Three Suns” ‘William Tell Overture’ 1947 A balding man with a white suit plays an accordion in a three piece band. there is an organist, and a guitarist as well. They play the William Tell Overture in front of some fake pillars and the shadow of a fake palm tree. 8.) ‘The Anvil Chorus’ 1947 The same Trio of men in white and gray suits plays the anvil chorus on organ, accordion, and guitar. Each man looks to be in his thirties and they all have dark, slicked back short hair. this stage has fake pillars and sparkly vines in the background. 9.) ‘The Song of India’ 1947 The same trio, now joined by a bunch of women in short skirts and swimsuit like outfits. they are sitting on a huge rotating platform with the band at the top, two women witting on a grand piano and the rest of the women around the bottom ring of the platform. The women smile at the camera and the players and do sexy little wiggles and winks for the camera. END 10.) “Lazy Rhythms, starring the Mills Brothers” “Lazy River” 1948 A group of African American singers sit on the deck of a boat and sing, the ‘Lazy River’ song. Sound similar to the ‘Ink Spots’ singers. Some people stroll behind them, women with flowers in their hair and guys with suit jackets on. 11.) “Rockin’ Chair” The Mills Bros. Again, now on a farm setting, wearing plaid shirts and straw hats. They sit in rocking chairs at the edge of a fenced yard with a shack in the background. Four women rock them in their chairs and the men sing about sitting in their chairs, booze, the cabin, and getting old. The women, who wear spotted dresses and aprons, with bows in their hair dance behind the chairs. 12.) “Till Then” The Mills Bros. The singers are now in a restaurant looking setting, wearing white suits and black bow ties. One, in the center wears a gray suit and plays a black guitar. They sing ‘Till Then’. There are some audience members in the room, which has curtains, blinds, pictures on the walls and some plants and furnishings. END OF REEL
