Muscular and mechanical movements

Episode number 1 of Series “Digestion”. Deals with the muscular processes involved in the digestion of food. The film demonstrates mechanical and muscular processes of mastication and swallowing; peristalsis in the oesophagus, small intestine, and colon; segmentation in the small intestine; contraction waves in the cardiac and pyloric regions of the stomach; absorption of food into the blood from the small intestine, and of water and salts from the colon.
