Description: Uses time-lapse photography to show motile colonies of bacillus alvei, pointing out two definite stages of development--the initial period of rapid, wide ranging, linear motion by minute colonies and the formation from these of resting colonies, and a second active period which begins gradually and develops into a rapid whirling motion until the colonies resemble spiral nebulae.
