Mine shaft sinking

Description: Describes the construction of the new shafts in a pit producing the best anthracite in the world, near Llanelly, in South Wales. First the removal of the soil and rock is shown, then the blasting to penetrate the bedrock. The ventilation of the shaft is also demonstrated, followed by the concreting of the shaft. Stresses that the job scheduled for 104 weeks was in fact completed in 74.
