Description: A Micmac legend about Medoonak, a mighty bird whose great wings cause the wind to blow on the sea and the waves to leap in the air. An Indian brave traps Medoonak but finally releases the bird making him promise to rest between storms so that the Micmac people will always be able to catch fish. This Indian legend is interpreted by members of the Mermaid Puppet Theater of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, using mime, dance and narration.
