Measuring Temperature

After a junior high school boy observes thermometer readings outdoors, in a hot oven, and on the thermostat in the living room, he becomes curious about the functioning of a thermometer. Consulting an encyclopedia, he learns the general principle of expansion and contraction. The role of the thermometer is further explained in taking body temperature, in incubators, in making maple syrup, and in cooking.
