Complete Record: Mary Katherine Goddard is postmistress of Baltimore and publisher of the “Maryland Journal”. In 1777 she published a satirical letter which suggests the acceptance of a British peace proposal. Mary Katherine refused the Baltimore Whig Club's demand to reveal the name of the author. Her action affirms in practice what, in theory, is one of the guiding principles of the American Revolution.
