The story of Mary Cassatt (1845-1926) — her years in Paris, her relationship with Edgar Degas, the influence of her family — is told with on-location footage and stills of the places she lived and painted. Her paintings, drawings, pioneering aquatints, dry points, and soft points show why she was the only American to exhibit in four major impressionist shows and why she now is recognized as one of the five great American artists of the 19th century.
