Description: This short reel of film presents "Prevues of Coming Attractions" -- a movie theater "snipe" -- along with trailers for two cult exploitation features by Dwain Esper. The first is for the film "Marihuana" released by Roadshow Attractions Corp. The second (2:46) is for "Maniac" aka "Sex Maniac". The coming attractions end and at 7:15 is another snipe for the movie theater snack bar featuring bon bon ice cream, candy and popcorn. There's a three minute intermission so you can stock up! "Maniac" is a 1934 black-and-white film, directed by Dwain Esper and written by his wife Hildagarde Stadie. It is a loose adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story "The Black Cat". The film was advertised with the tagline "He menaced women with his weird desires!" Released in 1936, "Marihuana" was also directed by Esper and written by Stadie, who appears as an extra in the film. The trailer for "Marihuana" was infamous at the time of its release, as it showed an assault scene which was not featured in the actual movie.

[Music] [Applause] [Music] we never gave her the sympathy and understanding she wanted and now i never realized mother i'll do everything i can to find and bring her [Music] home [Music] uh police will pass an innocent wheaty roast on the beach but should they know of your actions here that there's been a drinking party and nude bathing an investigation will surely take place [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay [Music] tonight my dear maxwell i'm ready to try my experiment on a human yes in the morgue there is a lethal ghast suicide and i dear special have you made arrangements [Music] laughs it's harder though i tell you working on the deaths trying to bring back life it's not natural you're with your weird idea haven't i stayed here on earth dying dogs yeah and even that miserable cat agony i can't stand this torture stealing through my body creeping through my veins pouring in my blood oh gosh the fire in my brain this is the one here oh my gosh some stuff is getting heavier and more of them every day the gleam is gone hahahaha [Applause] uh [Laughter] so [Music] the popcorn is crispy and hot [Music] we're ready to serve you
