Description: Discusses the election of Lyndon B. Johnson as the 36th president of the United States, emphasizing that his victory is a tribute to the legacy of President John F. Kennedy and a call for unity in government. Johnson received over 61% of the popular vote, defeating Barry Goldwater by nearly 16 million votes. The election also saw significant wins for the Kennedy family, with Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy securing Senate seats.
